Join the Caldwell Police

The City of Caldwell is looking for individuals committed to serving the citizens of their community while maintaining the high standards of public trust, integrity and professionalism.


Currently the Caldwell Police Department has 63 officers to serve a population of 40,000 and is looking for qualified candidates that would like a career in law enforcement.

To be considered for employment with the Caldwell Police please complete and submit an application and release of information from the City of Caldwell HR page.

The process may include a pre-employment interview, oral board interview, criminal background check, polygraph, and drug test. Applicants for Patrol and Reserve Officer positions will be administered a Physical Test (PT) and a written test of basic knowledge. The PT complies with Idaho Police Standards and Training (POST) fitness requirements.

Pay and Benefits

Starting pay is $16.22 per hour; self sponsors and graduates of POST, lateral transfers and officers with a Basic Certificate is $17.17 per hour. Benefits include longevity pay, certificate pay for intermediate and advanced POST certificates, uniform allowance, paid vacation, 10 paid holidays per year, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.

Testing and Requirements

Testing consists of a written test, physical fitness test, polygraph, psychological exam, and a thorough background investigation.
Applicants for Patrol and Reserve Officer positions will be administered a Physical Test (PT) and a written test of basic knowledge. The PT complies with Idaho Police Standards and Training (POST) fitness requirements.
