DAVE WRIGHT
Patrol Lieutenant

Lieutenant Dave Wright joined the Caldwell Police Department in 1985. He has worked in both investigations and patrol and is currently the patrol lieutenant. He holds his basic, intermediate and advanced certificates from P.O.S.T., as well as a supervisor and management certificate. He has also attended Northwestern Command College.

The Caldwell Police patrol division is made up of sergeants, corporals and patrol officers. Officers work a rotating shift with fours days on and four days off, working a day shift, swing shift or night shift. The city is divided into four areas, or “beats”, and a patrol officer is assigned to each area at all times. In addition to taking reports, officers also conduct investigations before giving their findings to a detective to follow up on.

Staffing the patrol division is assisted by reserve officers; who are individuals that receive the same training as a fulltime officer and work on a volunteer basis, twelve hours per month during evenings, weekends, and special events.

Another part of the patrol division is code enforcement. Currently the City of Caldwell has a Corporal and three community service officers who educate and enforce nuisance violations and other city ordinances.

The patrol division also offers extra patrols, vacation watches, and other programs to assist the city’s citizens. For information on these programs, please call 455-3115.
