Crime Prevention is a means to deter crime before it starts. It involves the education and awareness of both police officers and the citizens of the community they serve. This is accomplished through practical educational information utilizing brochures or classes coupled with personal experience. Awareness is a natural observation of your community and environment through daily living. Crime prevention appears to be immeasurable as it is difficult to accurately track that which never occurred aside from monitoring a decline in statistics. However, the Caldwell Police Department chooses to take a proactive approach in crime prevention that encourages the united efforts of citizens and law enforcement officers, also known as community policing. Crime prevention is a stand of confidence that encourages interaction with our neighbors, promotes positive community events and persistently claims that crime will not be tolerated in our city.
