Patrol
Caldwell Police Patrol Division

The purpose of the patrol division is to provide continuous, effective and efficient 24-hour police service to the community. The importance of patrol to a community cannot be overstated. Whether it is gauged with the number of personnel, the portion of the budget allocated to patrol, or that the uniformed officer is frequently the most visible component of the department, patrol is the foundation of police work.

The manner in which patrol officers carry out their responsibilities affects not only the quality of justice but also the citizen perceptions of law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

The patrol division is comprised of 38 officers, 8 reserve police officers, 3 canines, and 2 community service officers. Patrol officers are responsible for preventive patrol, response to calls for service, investigation of crimes, investigations of traffic collisions, enforcing traffic and criminal laws, and working with the community to solve neighborhood problems.
