Mail-In and On-Line Crime Reporting provide citizens an alternative reporting process for minor crimes that have no suspects or investigative leads. This procedure reduces waiting periods and allows sworn officers to concentrate more effectively on problem solving, proactive crime prevention, and investigation of criminal activity with suspects and leads.
If the crime meets the criteria listed below a citizen may print, complete and mail a Mail-In Crime Report to Caldwell Police, Records Division, 110 S 5th Ave, Caldwell, ID 83605. Or citizens may use the On Line Crime Report form on this page.
The following criteria will serve as the guidelines for a Mail-In Crime Report and the On-Line Crime Report:
A. Vandalism complaint – No suspects known. If the vandalism is gang related graffiti, a mail in report shall not be used.
B. Lost Property Complaints
C. Property Damage Vehicle Accidents – When the accident occurred earlier and both parties have left the scene.
D. Hit and Run Vehicle Accidents – When there are no injuries, no suspects and
no plate number.
E. Theft Reports – When there are no suspects, no investigative leads, and no serial numbers of stolen property available. If the property stolen exceeds one thousand dollars ($1,000), an officer will be dispatched to the scene.
